About three dozen dogs and cats have been placed in 24 display cases around the neighborhood, so that potential pet owners can walk around and check them out.

PAWS said there are many more animals in need of homes.

“If someone can’t come today, they can go to our website, PAWSChicago.org, to see all the dogs and cats available either at our Lincoln Park adoption center or through our program. We’re open seven days a week,” said Tom Hehir of PAWS Chicago.

PAWS has held “Angels with Tails” events across the city since its founding in 1998. Sunday’s event was in partnership with six other relief organizations.
