Muncie Animal Shelter is planning a 24-hour dog adoption event for July 23-24

MUNCIE, Ind. – With the shelter at critical capacity, Muncie Animal Care and Services will be hosting a 24-hour Dog Days Summer adoption event on July 23-24.

All adoptable dogs at the shelter are neutered and spayed, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and testing, and come with a free wellness exam with a participating veterinarian.

Potential adopters renting out their home must provide a copy of their pet policy before finalizing any adoption. Anyone interested in adopting a dog and who already has other dogs at home must participate in a meeting that will be required.

Approval requests can be printed and completed prior to attending the event to expedite the process.

The adoption fee will only be $10. The refuge can only accept cash or checks. Adoption fees are waived for military, first responders, and seniors, as well as for dogs ages 6 and older and dogs that have been at the shelter for more than six months.

Faeries, Sprites will light up Minnetrista in July

MUNCIE − Faeries, Sprites and Lights will return to Minnetrista from 5-9 p.m. July 28-30, with a special sensory event from noon-4 p.m. on July 31.

During this multi-day event, children are encouraged to attend dressed in their finest magical fairy attire as they imagine and play in a fairy wonderland. Families can enjoy games, crafts, a live theater performance, music and dance, a bubble garden and more at Minnetrista’s Oakhurst Enchanted Gardens. Children and families are also encouraged to interact with living characters, participate in the Faerie House workshop, and enjoy tea and appetizers at Faerie Tea.

Minnetrista will launch the Faeries, Sprites, and Lights events on July 23 at the Faerie House workshop. Participants will create a magical fairy house using a range of vibrant colors, patterns and textures. Experience a snack. magical way on July 30, including hors d’oeuvres and fun activities.

The July 31st Sensory Event is designed to welcome fairy friends with sensory sensitivities or disabilities to Oakhurst Gardens to experience magic in a quieter, welcoming environment. You can enjoy soft music, an optional live theater show and character interactions, or stroll through the beautiful flowers and decorations. This event is sponsored by Interlock.

Tickets to Faeries, Sprites and Lights are $10 for Minnetrista members and $12 for non-members. Tickets are available at Children 2 and under are free.

Parking for the event is at Delaware County Fairgrounds.

Minnetrista is looking for volunteers to help with fairies, elves and lights. Volunteers are needed from 5-9 p.m. July 28, 29, and 30 or 12-4 p.m. July 31 to help with Betty’s Magic Market, food tent, games, crafts, tattoos , greetings and more.
