The Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) and Friends of MADACC announced on Tuesday, May 10 a “Big Mutts” promotion for dog adoptions.

The promotion will run from May 10 to May 29. She will focus on finding homes for dogs that have been waiting for families at MADACC for some time.

A generous donation from the Friends of MADACC will allow MADACC to waive adoption fees for dogs that are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to go home.

Statement from MADACC Executive Director, Karen Sparapani:

“It has become a critical national concern in the animal shelter arena.

“Dogs over 40 pounds are being abandoned or will remain unclaimed in shelters, in greater numbers than ever. People tend to focus on puppies or small breed dogs these days, when dogs of all ages and sizes make great companions. People need to look at individual dogs when making their choices in the right animal to add to their family.”
