Dog adoption fees waived indefinitely at OKC Animal Welfare

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma City Animal Welfare says they are bursting with teeth and need your help to place nearly 500 dogs into loving homes.

OKC Animal Welfare says their facility is supposed to house fewer than 300 dogs, but they currently care for over 450. With such overcrowding, authorities have waived all dog adoption fees indefinitely.

“We NEED the public to help us save lives,” OKC Animal Welfare said in a Facebook post. “We are in a very difficult situation at the moment and desperately need help getting the animals out of our facility.”

June is also Adopt-A-Shelter Cat Month, so adoptions for cats and kittens six months and older are free and adoptions for kittens under six months are $30.

OKC Animal Welfare is located at 2811 SE 29th Street. Animals can be viewed seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The refuge is also desperately looking for host families, go to the refuge and ask for more information at the reception.
