Dog adoption, donation, artistic events planned around the show Mutts Gone Nuts

TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texarkana Regional Council of Arts and Humanities will host a number of events for dog lovers in conjunction with the Mutts Gone Nuts show Saturday at the Perot Theater.

Anyone who donates to the Texarkana Animal Care and Adoption Center by noon Thursday will be entered into a raffle for two VIP tickets to the show, which includes front seats and a meet and greet with the canine cast afterwards.

Donations should be dropped off at the Regional Arts Centre. Items needed at the shelter include dog or puppy food; cat or kitten food (dry and wet); harnesses, leashes and collars of all sizes; treats or toys; blankets and towels (no duvets or anything with lining, please); cat litter; and pet shampoo.

From 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the RAC, TRAHC will be hosting a “Dog Art Spectacular” and dog adoption meet.

People can come in and create a piece of art with National Teacher Artist Kay Thomas for free. And dogs for adoption will be available at the ArtsPark next to the RAC.

The RAC, 321 W. Fourth St., is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
