50 stray dogs adopted by families through dog adoption program | Kudumbashree launches dog adoption programs

Thrissur: Mallika, Blacky, Sooppi, Jacky, and Kalyani no longer roam the roads without enough food and shelter now. They sleep safely in their kennel. They were previously strays and were rescued by ABC (Animal Birth Control) centers in Kudumbashree. Dog lovers can adopt them for free. More than 50 dogs of this type have already been adopted by interested people.

The ABC team captures and sterilizes stray dogs. After sterilization, the dogs are taken to the same place where they were found. This was criticized by many people in society. It is in such a situation that the ABC centers of Kudumbashree created the “dog adoption program”.

Mallika, one such dog, was adopted by Anthikkad panchayat president Jyothi Raman and her husband Ramachandran. She has become a member of their family now and they call her Malli. Two weeks ago they also celebrated his birthday.

Kudumbasree District Mission Coordinator Jyothish Kumar said a “special pet stall” will soon be opened for dogs and puppies. Puppies are in high demand as they are easy to be around.
