Wisconsin Humane Society offering reduced dog adoption fees Feb. 11-18
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — If you’re still looking for a pawed Valentine, the Wisconsin Humane Society is offering a deep reduction on adoption fees.
From February 11 to 18and, the Wisconsin Humane Society will offer 50% off all adult dog adoption fees. According to Rachel Hahn, director of shelter operations at the Wisconsin Humane Society, the primary reason for the special is to find homes for dogs with medical needs.
“The reason for our discount actually isn’t as much COVID-related as it’s just that we’ve had an influx of more dogs that have more medical and behavioral needs,” Hahn said.
Hahn said 36 dogs will be available for adoption at the five shelters.
This is the first time in five years that the Wisconsin Humane Society has offered such a discount. By next week, all five facilities will be reopened after several were closed due to COVID.
“All of these animals here have unique needs, but one thing they all have in common is that they want to come home,” Hahn said.
Potential adopter Maxine Hunt says all dogs need is a little love.
“Animals need love just like humans, and the more love you show them, it helps them overcome their illnesses,” Hunt said.
Hahn said they hope the rebate will help their dogs in need of extra love find homes so they can provide more space to help their local communities and out-of-state transfer partners.
