Tabula Rasa Dog Adoption Event
The brewery will be taking in dogs from Animal Care and Protection Services for an adoption event they are calling Barks and Brews.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This is the perfect intersection for animal and beer lovers.
At first glance, it looks like a classic craft brewery: taps, clever names for the beer and, of course, the beer itself.
However, on March 26, Tabula Rasa Brewing will make a temporary and stirring new addition.
“I’ve always wanted to host a dog event,” says Jackie Peterson, owner of Tabula Rasa.
The brewery will be taking in dogs from Animal Care and Protection Services for an adoption event they are calling Barks and Brews. Pints and pooches will each be on display at the brewery.
“Bringing dogs in and showing them outside of the shelter really shines a light on the personality of the dog compared to a kennel,” says CSPA’s Misty Grauvogl.
Tabula Rasa is already a dog-friendly brasserie. The first thing Peterson bought for the brewery backyard was even a dog poop basket.
“I’ve always been a big fan of dogs,” says Peterson, “I’ve had dogs grown up all my life. It’s just a passion of mine, and I’ve wanted to do it ever since we opened, I’m so excited.”
This fun event also fills a need, the shelters are full.
“We have 264 kennels and last week we had 266 dogs,” says Grauvogl, “so we need help from Jacksonville, we need help, we’re understaffed, and we need to be able to support these animals and it gets tough when you have to start overtaking.”
So on March 26, pour a pint and pet a pup.
You’ll even have the chance to give it a forever home.
