CoolWag Owner Earns Advanced Dog Trainer Certification

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Heather Wegner, CPDT-KSA, professional dog trainer and owner of CoolWag Dog Daycare in Northwest Arkansas, recently earned advanced professional certification from the Dog Trainer Certification Board professionals.

According to a press release, this achievement makes her one of only five people to achieve this level of dog training certification in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. Recipients of this certification demonstrate the skills needed to both train dogs and teach people how to train their dogs through recorded and judge-graded exercises.

Certification also provides an independent measure of an individual’s practical understanding in the field of canine training, including training skills, instructional skills, training equipment, and application of procedures. Recipients must also engage in ongoing continuing education to maintain their credentials to ensure that they continue their personal development and apply current science and techniques with their clients.

They are also responsible for adhering to the CCPDT’s standards of practice and code of ethics and effective intervention policies for least intrusive and minimally aversive behavior (LIMA).
